Why Your Reels Aren't Getting Views (5 Common Mistakes)
If your Reels are stuck under 1,000 views, it's almost always one of these five things.
I get this question every week. 'My Reels used to get 10k views, now they get 300, what's going on?' Nine times out of ten it's one of these.
1. A TikTok or CapCut watermark
Instagram detects them and tanks the reach. Always export clean from CapCut, and use our Reels Downloader if you need to re-pull your own Reels without anyone's watermark.
2. A weak first 3 seconds
Average watch time is now the dominant Reels ranking signal. If half your viewers are gone by second 3, the Reel is dead. See our 20 hook ideas for openers that don't bleed viewers.
3. Wrong dimensions
Anything not 1080×1920 9:16 gets letterboxed and downranked. Our IG Converter fixes this in one step.
4. Posting when your audience is asleep
Calibration runs on the first hour of viewers. If those viewers are the wrong demo, the Reel never finds its real audience. See our guide on best times to post.
5. Inconsistency
Reels rewards momentum. If you post 5 Reels in a week, then nothing for a month, the algorithm has to start over each time. Even 2 Reels a week, every week, beats sporadic flurries.
